Rabattrechner: So funktioniert’s

A percentage discount takes that share off the original price, so the sale price is the original multiplied by one minus the discount. A 20% discount on 2,000 leaves 80% of the price, which is 1,600.

Stacked discounts do not add up. Each one applies to the price left after the previous one. 20% off followed by another 10% off multiplies 0.80 by 0.90 to get 0.72 of the original, so the real saving is 28%, not 30%. You can also work backwards: given a sale price and the discount, the original price is the sale price divided by one minus the discount.

This matters when a shop shows a headline such as 50% off and then offers a further voucher at checkout. Working out the true final price lets you compare it with a competitor's plain price, or with the same item at a different shop, before you decide whether the deal is real.

Formel und Annahmen

Formel

  • Angebotspreis = Ursprungspreis × (1 − Rabatt %)
  • Zwei Rabatte: Ursprungspreis × (1 − R1 %) × (1 − R2 %)

Annahmen

  • Ein zweiter Rabatt wird auf den bereits reduzierten Preis angewendet (die Prozentsätze werden nicht addiert).
  • Steuern sind nicht enthalten.

Rechenbeispiel

2,000 item with 20% off, then an extra 10% coupon

  1. After the first discount: 2,000 × 0.80 = 1,600.
  2. After the coupon: 1,600 × 0.90 = 1,440.
  3. Total saved = 2,000 − 1,440 = 560, which is 28% of the original.
  4. Reverse: a sale price of 1,440 after 28% off means the original was 1,440 ÷ 0.72 = 2,000.

Ergebnis: Final price 1,440; you save 560 (28%).

Einschränkungen

  • Taxes are not included. Whether tax is charged before or after the discount depends on the shop and the country.
  • Buy-one-get-one, tiered, or minimum-spend offers are not modelled; use the equivalent percentage for those.
  • "Up to" discounts and inflated original prices are marketing; this calculator cannot tell whether the original price was genuine.
  • Shops may round each step, so the amount at the till can differ by a small amount.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Is 20% plus 10% the same as 30%?

No. Stacked discounts compound, so 20% then 10% is 28% off in total.

How do I find the original price?

Divide the sale price by one minus the discount rate. If a 25% discount leaves 750, the original price is 750 ÷ 0.75 = 1,000.

Is a bigger percentage always a better deal?

Not if the base prices differ. 30% off an inflated price can cost more than 15% off a fair one. Compare final prices.

Does the order of two discounts matter?

No. 20% then 10% gives the same result as 10% then 20% because the multiplication is the same either way.

What is the difference between percent and percentage points in discounts?

Going from 20% off to 30% off is a 10 percentage-point change, but the price drops from 0.80 to 0.70 of the original, which is 12.5% lower.

How do I calculate a discount percentage?

Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide by the original price and multiply by 100. A price cut from 80 to 60 saves 20, and 20 ÷ 80 = 25% off. Enter both prices in the calculator to see the percentage and the amount saved.

What is 20% off $60?

20% of $60 is $12, so the sale price is $60 − $12 = $48. In one step, multiply the price by 0.80. The same method works for any price and any percentage, and the calculator also shows how much you save.
