Einkommensteuerrechner 2026: So funktioniert’s

Most countries tax income in bands. The first slice of your income is taxed at a low rate, sometimes zero, and each higher slice is taxed at a higher rate. Only the part of your income inside a band is taxed at that band's rate, so moving into a higher bracket never reduces your take-home pay below what it was before.

This calculator applies the published brackets for India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, Singapore, France, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Ireland and the Netherlands. The United Arab Emirates has no personal income tax, so that option simply shows that only VAT applies. Where a country has a standard deduction or personal allowance, it is subtracted first. Germany, France and Singapore ask for taxable income, meaning income after your own reliefs, because their systems depend on many individual deductions. You get the total tax, your effective rate (tax ÷ income) and your marginal rate (the rate on the next unit of income).

Formel und Annahmen

Formel

  • Steuer = Summe über die Tarifstufen von (Einkommen in der Stufe × Satz der Stufe), nach dem Standardabzug bzw. -freibetrag des Landes
  • Durchschnittssteuersatz = Steuer gesamt ÷ Einkommen

Annahmen

Rechenbeispiel

UK, 2026/27: £60,000 salary (England, Wales and Northern Ireland)

  1. Personal Allowance £12,570 is tax-free, so taxable income = 60,000 − 12,570 = £47,430.
  2. Basic rate 20% on the first £37,700 = £7,540.
  3. Higher rate 40% on the remaining £9,730 = £3,892.
  4. Total income tax = £11,432.

Ergebnis: Effective rate 19.1%, marginal rate 40%. For comparison, a US single filer on $100,000 pays $13,170 federal income tax (13.2% effective) after the $16,100 standard deduction.

Einschränkungen

  • Only a simplified resident-individual calculation is made: no social security or National Insurance (exceptions: Norway's trygdeavgift, Ireland's USC and the Dutch first-bracket premiums are included because they are part of the official rate), no state, provincial or local tax, only the standard credits, and no capital-gains rules.
  • The US result is federal tax for a single filer. Canada is federal tax only, and the UK excludes Scotland, which has different bands.
  • Germany, France and Singapore need taxable income after your reliefs; entering gross salary overstates the tax.
  • Each country uses the newest tax year we could verify. Rules change every year, so always confirm with the tax authority or a qualified adviser before filing.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

What is the difference between effective and marginal tax rate?

The effective rate is total tax divided by total income. The marginal rate is the tax on your next unit of income, which is the rate of the band you are currently in.

Why is my result different from my payslip?

Payslips include social security, pension contributions, employer-specific reliefs and withholding rules. This tool only calculates income tax from brackets.

Does it include state or provincial tax?

No. US state taxes and Canadian provincial taxes are not included; the figures are federal only.

Why does the Germany option ask for taxable income?

German income tax is calculated on "zu versteuerndes Einkommen" after many deductions. The official § 32a EStG tariff is applied to the figure you enter.

Which tax year is used?

Each country shows its tax year and the official sources used underneath the result. The year differs by country because fiscal years start on different dates.

Can I use this to file my return?

No. It is for planning and comparison only. File using your tax authority's own forms or a qualified professional.

Which tax bracket am I in for 2026?

Enter your income and pick your country: the marginal rate shown is the rate of the band your next unit of income falls in, and the breakdown shows the tax per band. Bands come from each country's official tables for the newest tax year we could verify, linked under the result. Your real bracket also depends on your filing status, reliefs and the tax year your authority applies.

Does this calculator include social security or National Insurance?

No, with a few exceptions that are part of the official income tax rate (Norway's trygdeavgift, Ireland's USC and the Dutch first-bracket premiums). UK National Insurance, US Social Security and Medicare and Canadian CPP and EI contributions are not included, so your payslip take-home pay will be lower than the after-tax figure shown here.
