Supuestos avanzados
%

An Android app can earn from two places: ads and purchases. Ads are paid per thousand impressions (eCPM) and AdMob passes most of that on to you. Purchases (in-app items, or the price of a paid app) go through Google Play, which keeps a service fee. This calculator adds the two together.

It first estimates daily active users (DAU), either from monthly downloads and the share that stay active, or from a DAU you enter. For ads it multiplies DAU by the daily ad requests of each format, the fill rate and the eCPM, then applies the AdMob payout share. eCPM is taken from benchmark ranges for India, US / Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 audiences (single region or your own mix), or from your own AdMob numbers. For purchases it estimates buyers, removes any tax inside the price and subtracts the Play fee.

Ejemplo resuelto

100,000 downloads a month, US audience, ads + in-app purchases

  1. DAU = 100,000 × 4% = 4,000 (the default is 3.8%; 4% keeps the sums round).
  2. Daily requests per user: 20 banner, 3 interstitial, 1 rewarded. Expected US eCPM: $0.49, $11.20, $17.50. Revenue per DAU per day = (20 × 0.49 + 3 × 11.2 + 1 × 17.5) ÷ 1,000 = $0.0609.
  3. Fill 80% and AdMob share 68%: 0.0609 × 0.8 × 0.68 = $0.03313 per DAU per day, so 4,000 × 0.03313 × 30 = $3,975.55 a month (low $3,068.16, high $5,222.40).
  4. Purchases: monthly active users = 4,000 ÷ 20% = 20,000; 2% buy once at $4.99 → 400 × 4.99 = $1,996 gross. Play fee 15% → $1,696.60 net.

Resultado: Expected: $5,672.15 a month (about $68,066 a year). Ads range gives roughly $4,765 to $6,919 a month.

Limitaciones

  • eCPM figures are third-party estimates from different years and methods. They disagree widely, and real AdMob revenue is often at the low end for India. Treat the result as a planning range.
  • DAU is held constant for the year. Real apps grow and decay, retention varies by category (about 1% to 9% at day 30), and uninstalls and seasonality (Q4 pays more) are not modelled.
  • Fees vary by market, programme and subscriptions, and tax (GST, VAT, withholding, TCS) depends on where you live. Earnings are before your own income tax.

Preguntas frecuentes

How much does an Android app earn from ads?

It depends mostly on where the users are and which formats you show. With the benchmarks used here, a US user is worth roughly 5 times an Indian user at the expected eCPM, and about 12 times at India's low estimate, for the same ad load. Enter your own eCPM from AdMob for a real figure.

What is eCPM?

Effective cost per mille: the earnings per 1,000 ad impressions that were shown. Rewarded and interstitial ads pay far more than banners, but banners are shown many more times per user.

Why 68% for AdMob?

68% is the publisher share commonly quoted for Google ad products. Google does not publish a split for the AdMob network, and some sources say about 60%. You can change it under Advanced. AdMob reports eCPM as your earnings per 1,000 impressions, so if you type eCPM from your reports, set the share to 100% to avoid deducting Google's cut twice.

What does Google Play charge?

The standard tier is 15% of the first $1M a year in purchases and 30% above that. In the US, UK, EEA, Australia and Japan a newer structure is 10% plus a 5% billing fee, also 15% in total on the first $1M. Ads are not subject to the fee.

How does GST in India affect my revenue?

Play prices in India include tax. If your price includes 18% GST, enter 18 and the tool divides the price by 1.18 before the fee. Google also deducts withholding tax and GST TCS for Indian developers. Ask a tax adviser about your case.

How much does AdMob pay per 1,000 impressions?

That figure is the eCPM, and it depends on the ad format, the user's country and the demand at the time. The third-party benchmarks used here put US and tier-1 eCPM at about $0.30 to $0.80 for banners, $9 to $14 for interstitials and $14 to $22 for rewarded video. Google does not publish eCPM by country or format, and real numbers can be lower, so replace the presets with your own AdMob figures as soon as you have them.

How much does AdMob pay in India?

The benchmark ranges used here for India are about $0.08 to $0.40 per 1,000 banner impressions, $0.80 to $4 for interstitials and $1.10 to $12 for rewarded video, far below US and tier-1 rates. An app with mostly Indian users therefore needs a much larger daily audience for the same ad income, and real eCPM can be below these ranges.

Does Google Play pay per download?

No. Google Play does not pay developers for installs. Money comes from ads shown in the app (for example through AdMob), in-app purchases, subscriptions or the price of a paid app, minus the Google Play service fee. Downloads still matter because they feed the daily active users this calculator multiplies by ad impressions and purchase rates.
